On Wednesday the U.S. Postal Service announced that starting in August it will no longer deliver mail on Saturdays, citing a steadily decline of snail mail and a loss of approximately $15.9 net loss if $15.9 billion in 2012 (Source: U.S. Postal Service.) So how will the change in delivery service affect you and your company?
Over the past 10 years the use of traditional mail for both business and personal use has waned due to increased reliance on e-mail and other technological solutions such as Dropbox and other cloud based services.
So does the Postal Service’s decision to terminate Saturday deliveries have any affect on modern day businesses? Certainly, it will affect particular industry groups more than others. For example, the periodical publishing industry may have to adjust their production schedules. However, many other industries may feel no impact whatsoever.
