NJ Lawmakers Pave the Way for Edible Marijuana

Yesterday, New Jersey Lawmakers agreed with Gov. Christie's proposed changes to the bill which paves the way for edible marijuana.  The bill must now be signed by Christie, which he is expected to sign shortly.  Once signed the bill will become law and allow facilities to produce a larger variety of marijuana plants, some of which can be converted into edible versions for children and others who are afflicted with certain medical conditions.
The bill was originally proposed after Brian and Meghan Wilson of Union City began a campaign to get what could be life-saving treatment for their 2-year old daughter, Vivian. She reportedly suffers from Dravet syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy for which anti-seizure medicine is ineffective.
As a parent myself, I know that watching your child suffer is terribly difficult. While the bill is a victory for those in need of the treatment, NJ must place a good deal of focus on regulating the edible form, which could be in the form of a pill, capsule or liquid.  Safeguards must be put in place to prevent unlawful access and distribution of the edible form.
